This means that you are anemic. Do what your doctor tells you.

The ferritin test is ordered for the amount of iron your body has stored for future use. The test is performed, usually with a test for iron and TIBC, learn about iron in the blood. Ferritin is the best evidence of iron deficiency and a very good test for iron overload.
When a blood count indicates that the hemoglobin and hematocrit are low, especially when the cells are smaller and lighter than normal (micro-and hypochromic), iron deficiency is the most likely cause of anemia. Iron ferritin and other tests may be used to confirm the diagnosis.
Ferritin levels are low in patients with iron deficiency.
